WELCOME LETTER FROM THE 1st DELEGATE

Dear Members of the Executive Council,

As the Czech Republic’s First Delegate to PIARC, let me express firm intention and interest of the Czech Road Society and Prague to host the XXVII World Road Congress in the year 2023. The candidature of the Czech Republic is supported by Slovakia and the Slovak National Committee.

Some of you may remember how successful Prague was at the host of the World Road Congress in 1971. In September of that year, our magical capital welcomed delegates from all over the world. Even today, almost 50 years later, we still recall some of the great moments of this occasion. Our honest motivation and collective interest to bring the Congress back to the heart of Europe may honor the work of central-European engineers working on a progress in the field of the road transport since 1971.

Prague is located in the very heart of Europe. It is the beautiful capital of the Czech Republic and has always been a landmark of magnificent architecture, science, and academic life. Nowadays, Prague ranks among the most popular Congress venues worldwide. It offers both historical and modern conference venues, hotels, restaurants, infrastructure and places of interest. Congress delegates coming to Prague are more than pleased to see the variety of suitable venues that provide a high standard of hospitality, with the overall costs being reasonable and competitive.

Another significant advantage is Prague’s central location in Europe which has allowed the city to achieve exceptional congress attendance. Lying in the heart of Europe, the city can be easily reached from all over the world and has quick 1-hour flights to and from most European countries.

The recommended venue for the World Road Congress, the Prague Congress Centre, surely represents a state-of-the-art facility, more than appropriate for such an event. It has hosted a number of large events, even those exceeding 10,000 delegates. In addition, it has a large indoor as well as an outdoor area for the exhibition.

Our partner for the organization of the Congress would be CZECH-IN Ltd., a leading professional congress organizer (PCO) in the Czech Republic.
