TV 3 – Construction of the Dvorce Bridge and the Štvanice Footbridge
Date: 3 October 2023, 9:00-13:00 EN/ 13:30–17:30 FR/ES
Dvorce Bridge
Currently, the Palacký Bridge, at the southern edge of Prague’s city centre, is the most southerly point at which trams can cross the Vltava River. This has been a problem for many years now, and a decision was therefore made to build a new bridge for trams, the Dvorce Bridge, which will cross the Vltava on the city’s southern side. This will provide a connection between the tram routes Palacký Square – Braník – Modřany, on the right bank, and Smíchov Train Station – Barrandov (– Holyně), on the left. The bridge will also be used by public transport buses, cyclists, pedestrians and the emergency services. Construction began in September 2022 and will be completed in 2025. The bridge is to be 388 m long and 16.5 m wide.

Štvanice Footbridge
This new footbridge connecting the Holešovice and Karlín districts will not only provide a convenient link for pedestrians and cyclists, but will also greatly improve the accessibility of Štvanice Island. To cross the Vltava, it will have a span of 38 m between Karlín and Štvanice Island, and a further 149 m between the island and Holešovice. Construction began in January 2022.
